A rare, insider’s look at the life of Donald Trump from Bill O'Reilly, the bestselling author of the Killing series, based on exclusive interview material and deep research

Readers around the world have been enthralled by journalist and
New York Times bestselling author Bill O’Reilly’s Killing series―riveting works of nonfiction that explore the most famous events in history. Now, O’Reilly turns his razor-sharp observations to his most compelling subject thus far―President Donald J. Trump. In this thrilling narrative, O’Reilly blends primary, never-before-released interview material with a history that recounts Trump’s childhood and family and the factors from his life and career that forged the worldview that the president of the United States has taken to the White House.

Not a partisan pro-Trump or anti-Trump book, this is an up-to-the-minute, intimate view of the man and his sphere of influence―of “how Donald Trump’s view of America was formed, and how it has changed since becoming the most powerful person in the world”― from a writer who has known the president for thirty years. This is an unprecedented, gripping account of the life of a sitting president as he makes history.

As the author will tell you, “If you want some insight into the most unlikely political phenomenon of our lifetimes, you’ll get it here.”

This is about a book, the physical book, purchased used, not a commentary about the author not about the subject. This isn’t about politics or their wings. I don’t buy many physical books, instead preferring my Kindle, but by getting it used it cost me a lot less. For me it’s not a keeper for my library, I will probably pass it forward to someone else who might be interested in reading it.WHAT YOU GETBuying a used book is always a gamble, it could be all torn and marked up or even worse if the reader dislikes it. The one I received looks brand new, like it was never opened. That’s a big plus. I was surprised it is a large print edition, I never owned one of those and don’t actually need t but since I intended to read it on a road trip (as a passenger) the large typeface was easier to focus on in a moving vehicle. It also doubles the size of what is really not much of a book, the author must have whipped this one out in a pretty short time. The quality of the paper is very low, I doubt if it is. The illustrations are crude, I wonder if they are in color in the official hardcover.YES NO MAYBEI bought the book to learn more about the subject outside of his job, to learn more about who he is, what brought him to where he is and what motivates him. I don’t care to know any of these things about the author, I’ve only seen him in passing on TV and don’t follow him. This should summarize not only my reason for reading this book but for recommending it – the subject is a famous person and the only way to fairly understand the motives of anyone is to know their history. That’s mostly what this book is about, I am neutral on politics and I didn’t read it as leaning left or right. If you prefer to think for yourself and make your own decisions you will probably want to give it a read – then either keep in with your treasured volumes or burn it. Life is about choices.

Bill O'Reilly gives an honest and fair assessment of how Donald Trump got elected and how he views America. I read this in one day. I highly recommend it so that you can get a clear understanding of how special interests and the media influence elections. The American people should be electing our leader and not the biased media or six dominant corporations. Worth the read.

I really enjoyed this book and found it hard to put down. I learned many things I didn’t know but most of all O’Reilly has put it together where you get a Birdseye view or a big picture of what is going on and why it is going on. I think it was well written and doesn’t overwhelm the reader with a bunch of unnecessary nonsense. Very well written and to the point. As a United States patriot it seems to me that Donald Trump is a man who does not give up and gets the job done. I am in alignment with what he thinks are important things to accomplish and I think he is doing his best to make them happen. Read the book to see what these four things are. Whether you personally like Trump is beside the point and I can’t say that I personally like Trump or even Bill O’Riley; but they both do a great job and that ultimately is most important element in these serious matters.

The title of this book suggests that there will be extensive analysis of how the president's mind works. There really is not. O'Reilly has known DJT for some thirty years and has interviewed him, man to man. He does make observations on DJT's thought processes and general views, but there are no great epiphanies, just fair assessments that confirm what we have already learned elsewhere (or observed by ourselves). O'Reilly acknowledges that most psychobiographies are bogus and he will stay on the factual straight and narrow. None of us can get inside the minds of others (and do it honestly); we can only observe and assess in as fair a manner as possible. That is what O'Reilly does, but his biographical principles undercut the depth, trenchancy and freshness suggested by the book's subtitle.

The voice is pure O'Reilly. While he acknowledges some help with the research for the book, his own voice comes through loudly, clearly and unmistakably, even down to his favorite locutions and normal speech rhythms. That voice is informal, but also factual and empirical. There is no dreamy analysis or broad speculation. A significant portion of the book consists of quotes, principally from interviews or news conferences with/of DJT.

The book reads very quickly and is a pleasant and easy read. The book is basically a biography of DJT, focusing on his youth, his relationship with his father and his political career. The narrative is thorough, given the page constraints of the book, and it is enlivened by the fact that O'Reilly is a New Yorker, an opinion journalist and a participant in reality/entertainment television. One of the interesting aspects of the book is O'Reilly's ability to drawn on his vast experience in the television industry and offer assessments of the relative fairness of the individuals who variously question, interrogate and badger DJT.

O'Reilly prides himself on his honesty and fairness and that comes through in the book. The assessments of DJT and his attackers and supporters are very fair. This is light history, not hagiography. O'Reilly regularly adduces facts that both counter DJT's pronouncements and support them.

Bottom line: a good read, especially for fans of the author, but don't expect massive new insights that alter the current landscape or shock and surprise. This is workmanlike, straightforward, narrative history by a 'traditionalist' journalist.

The quote by Yogi Berra 'It ain't over till it's over' sums this book up in a few words. The book starts with the birth of Donald Trump in June of 1946 and continues through 2019. Major milestones in President Trump's life are covered in depth...including, his time at a military school for 5 years.

The American public has certainly formed their opinion of this man...be it negative or positive. We know that President Trump is competitive and aggressive in his behavior. One thing I didn't realize was that he told his children to 'trust no one'...Donald Trump, Jr. stated this in an interview with the author. After I read that part, more of Trump's behaviors made sense to me. In his business relationships and the Trump holdings, this may be one way in which he made some of the money. Who knows?

His life before the campaign is covered in great detail including his marriage to Marla Maples. The manner in which he raised his children is also mentioned. And, then the lengthy campaign to his Presidency is broken down.

The political portion of his run for Presidency including debates and key players are analyzed by the author. Mr. O'Reilly does state that he has known President Trump for 30 years but I can see absolutely zero favoritism on his part in the text. His questions to the candidate were spot-on and Trump had some difficult times in answering some of them.

I thought it was a fair and balanced book written with facts and one which presented both sides of the campaign. One thing that gave me more insight into the man was when Don Jr. worked for a landscaping company. In discussing the pay, Dad said ''why would I pay you more than you're willing to work for?" I imagine this is how the President feels about some of the trade deals he has encountered..

The readers will gain an insight into President Trump that they did not have before. Lots of different areas of his personality as well as politics.

Most highly recommended..

At the suggestion of my wife I just finished reading this. I found it to be a very informative and interesting read. While it's about Donald Trump and his rise to hold the most powerful office in the world that is not the main thing I got from it. It's all much about the willingness of the news media and politicians to lie in order to push their own agendas and profits at the expense of the American people.

As a middle aged woman from the other side of the world who doesn't have any social media accounts I truly found this book brilliant. I simply cannot understand why people hate President Trump. I think he's easily the best person for the job. He's tough he's smart and he tells it like it is. That's so refreshing in this silly PC world we live in. Bill you did a great job . I have never read any of your previous books but I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Next time you speak to President Trump please tell him that he has a huge female fan in Australia. Who says women don't approve of Donald Trump ???
