Miscarriage: It can devastate an individual, a couple, and family to their very core. And yet, this painfully common human experience is so rarely talked about. How do we continue functioning? How do we tell our partner what we need? How do we deal with emotional dumpster fire that is the aftermath of a miscarriage? How do we not kill the fifth person who tells us “You can always have another baby.”

With unflinching honesty and fearless humor, psychologist Dr. Sunita Osborn addresses the relevant but often unspoken topics following a miscarriage including the impact of miscarriage on a relationship, hating pregnant people and all things baby after miscarriage, your relationship with your body after miscarriage, and how to move forward (not past).

Informed by her clinical expertise and her own personal experience with miscarriage, the
Miscarriage Map offers women, their partners, and loved ones with the nitty gritty realities of a miscarriage, the accompanying emotional roller coaster, and specific steps to take to help them get through this loss.

"Beautifully intimate and powerful. The Miscarriage Map is the relatable, informative, and genuine companion you need by your side to support and help you navigate life after miscarriage." Whitney Port, Entrepreneur, Fashion Designer, Digital Influencer, TV Personality and Host of WITH WHIT Podcast.

Heartfelt and honest telling of a woman's journey with miscarriage
5 Stars
Heartfelt and honest telling of a woman's journey with miscarriage
Dr. Sunita Osborn has an intimate and honest voice as she shares her struggles with her new life after she miscarried. While the author does wear her doctors hat at times to delve into why she was feeling what she was feeling but most of the book is in the voice of Sunita, a sweet 30 something newly married woman who just had her heart wrenched out. The author includes thought exercises she performed during her healing and explains how they can benefit you. I hope to read more books by Dr. Sunita Osborn.

I highly recommend this book to anyone going through a miscarriage themselves or knows someone who is going through it. Sunita Osborn writes about navigating the trauma surrounding miscarriage allowing space for grief and well-placed humor. I found this book immensely helpful.

This book felt like a hug fir my soul. This book was what we needed to navigate this season in life.

I finally got pregnant in March 2022 after 8+ years and was over the moon excited. I soon found out I had a blighted ovum and would end up having a D & C. To say that my world was crushed and I was in a very dark place was an understatement. Even though I always knew the risks and "worst case scenarios", you never want to think it will actually happen to you. This book helped me understand my anger and sadness and helped me understand that it's okay to "not be okay". I pray no one ever has to go through the places emotionally that I went through, but this book is worth buying if you feel lost.

Highly recommend this book to anyone going through or know of anyone going through a miscarriage. Sunita gives you the raw reality of what it’s like first hand. She adds some fun bits in the book as well that I really enjoyed. This is the first time I feel like I’m not alone with how I’ve felt in my grieving process.

I enjoyed this book so much. It took me
Less than two days to read it. The author speaks from both a psychological and emotional perspective which made the book easier to digest. I highlighted so many passages that I know I’ll come back to again.

I bought this book hours after coming home from the hospital after experiencing my second miscarriage. It turned out my grief was too raw (and the drugs were too active) to read it then, but I picked it up again 2 weeks later and I couldn't be more grateful. I can't thank Dr. Osborn enough for her empathic and transparent discussion of miscarriage. I wish this book had been around when I had my first loss 4 years ago. I would have saved myself an enormous amount of shame, anxiety and frustration from trying to squash all those normal but unpleasant thoughts, feelings and behaviors that come in the wake of a miscarriage. I especially appreciate the exercises for couples because my husband and I really had no idea how to interact with one another in the aftermath... And this is our second miscarriage! We had a very nice, productive conversation about our individual experiences of grief, needs for support and anxieties surrounding all types of intimacy just this afternoon. I also very much enjoyed the supplemental readings and podcast suggestions in the footnotes and plan to access them as part of my continued progress toward making meaning of this new chapter. Thanks again Dr. Osborn and best of luck to you and your readers.

An excellent read after experiencing an early pregnancy loss. So many great exercises, concepts and analogies. I’ll definitely be reading it again and lending it to friends and family. 10/10 would recommend to anyone going through this, or anyone wanted to understand or relate to something going through this.

It helped me a lot! I could see myself in her words. She really described how I was/am feeling. Even some feelings that I had not have knowledge of. I felt understood and guilty-free in my heart. I'm grateful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Feels like you poured out my heart in this book
Reviewed in India on November 3, 2022
I do not how but this completely relates with my story. Going through two miscarriages in the gap of almost same time, I could completely feel every word that is written in this book. The excitement of seeing the positive test first time vs the anxiety of the 2nd time. The trauma of not seeing the heart beat at all vs seeing the heartbeat only to realise it is not beating any more after two weeks. You have portrayed everything what anyone going through a miscarriage would have faced. Really love the way. And yeah the way you mentioned, when you hear those words for the first time "Sorry for your loss", I had the exact same feeling when I informed in my office about it and the leaves and in the response I got that statement.

Thank you so much Ma'am for writing on this topic, experienced by most of the people, but very less talked about.
