About the Author

Dr. Haneline is a Professor and Head of Chiropractic at the International Medical University in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.He previously taught evidence-based chiropractic and conducted clinical research at Palmer College of Chiropractic West. He received his chiropractic degree from Southern California University of Health Sciences – Los Angeles College of Chiropractic and a Master of Public Health degree from California College for Health Sciences. He is a graduate of the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic Orthopedics program and is a Fellow in the Institute of Chiropractic Research (F.I.C.R.). Dr. Haneline has published more than 80 articles in the chiropractic and medical literature and has made presentations at a number of professional conferences and seminars.

Dr. Haneline shows the chiropractic clinician how to understand the relationship between clinical-practice and scientific-research in a wonderful new way. The "clinician-scientist" may be the future hope of the profession, and certainly will be necessary for doctors who wish to continue to be remunerated by third-party payers for their work with patients. This books is for someone who can both manage patients and the business of chiropractic while contributing to the scientific literature about the clinical activity of caring for patients.

A terrific introductory book about the reality of clinical research (how to read it, how to understand it, and how the practicing clinician can produce it) -- and for anyone with ambitions to become a published researcher, a necessity! This book updates the work of Dr. Joseph Keating,  Toward a Philosophy of the Science of Chiropractic: A Primer for Clinicians  and improves the reader's insights into the best way to read, understand, evaluate, and also to produce the vast amounts of scientific clinical research that is being produced about and for the chiropractic profession every day.

Eight out of ten patients that come out of any doctor's office complain of a musculoskeletal system problem, regardless of what system the pain is coming from...it is safe to say that 100 percent of those complaints are due to joint and muscle dysfunction in the musculoskeletal system. If you don't manipulate to relieve the symptoms from this condition of joint dysfunction, then you are depriving the patient of the one thing that is likely to relieve them of their suffering. Given that back pain is the largest driver of disability in the developed world, books like this one will help society develop 'best-practices' to alleviate this problem. Chiropractic care (over surgical and medical care) is the obvious choice.

Dr. Haneline shows the chiropractic profession the challenges it faces and the steps it needs to take in the future. An important book for every clinician. Highly recommended!
