Such a good book for children and adults alike. Explains the brain so well and has activities in the back. Highly recommend to all parents. I’m a therapist and have used this in counseling sessions as well and found it very helpful!

My daughter was excited to read this book. I asked her what it was about after, she said we need to focus on a positive story when we are scared.
We also read the things we can do together after. Great book, learning tools like these when you are a child is priceless.

My 8yo loves it and it made me feel good to see how he was able to use the concepts in the book to help himself manage fear of certain things

I'm a sucker for kids books. I love how the message in children's books is delivered in a quick tasty bite. Honestly, I sometimes find them more inspiring and thought-provoking than books written for adults. The Monster Under Your Bed definitely falls into this category. Beautifully illustrated, with a story that is simultaneously fantastical while being grounded in fact, it's a book as much for the parent as the child. A surprise bonus comes in the afterward where the reader is given a quick and helpful set of tools to help kids overcome their fears. I wonder how many readers will end up using this part of the book as their own source of monster banishment skills.
When you're ready for your own bedtime story, but written for adults, you'll like this book written by the same author:

What an engaging and enlightening children's story! This book will give your child a clear understanding of how their brain and body respond to stories in their head while giving them an empowering message about their ability to become aware of and choose which stories play out in their head. Your child is now equipped to not only better understand those scary stories but also to make a choice around how they respond to their fears. With the informative parent guide at the end of the book, parents and guardians can support their child in excelling through this cutting edge neuro-literacy book. I highly recommend this book for parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. It's the perfect gift to empower any child today to grow up into a confident, compassionate and clear-thinking leader of tomorrow.

What an amazing book! I have given several as gifts. Lisa brings deep wisdom and compassion to children at a time it’s gravely needed in this world!

I wish I'd had this book for my daughter when she was younger! It's easy to understand and a fun story for kids to navigate the scary "monsters" at bedtime. It even helps adults understand the parts of the brain involved in fear and stress. Highly recommended!

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing

I'd expected a little more info...didn't touch on upsetting memories, just stories. A stretch re how the amygdala dressed the child in uncomfortable clothes... Didn't make sense
Great idea tho and could have been much better if the brain info was given to a children's author
Will be returning.
