I bought hope & Help for your never a many yes ago when I would get panic attacks in early 20’s. I was looking for that book for my son who started to get from flying & school etc. I got this one by mistake but it also is a good book. I like that it describes what a panic attack is and feels puts mind at ease. It taught me not to have them and find it’s helpful for anyone that gets them. Easy read, simple straight forward approach. I highly recommend it out of any I have read. TY

Dr Claire weeks was light years ahead of doctors psychiatrist and counselors in helping people with anxiety and depression. Her books saved my life years ago. I read and reread them. She helped thousands of people to overcome anxiety and depression. I am the proud owner of all her books. Have bought and given away so many of her books to people hurting and saw how God used her and them restored. Outstanding book. Worth reading by everyone, not just people with anxiety and depression. If you find it, buy it. Read it and then reread it again. And keep it near when anxiety or sadness attacks. Grab it and start reading. The tools she gives for defeating it works. I’m living proof.

I enjoyed Hope and Help for Your Nerves but I love More Help for Your Nerves. I did not think there was a book that could top Hope and Help for Your Nerves.

I carry this book in my purse and refer to it as needed-like a dose of medicine. Easy to read and understand. I can be having an anxious/anxiety moment... I read a few pages of More Help for Your Nerves and it helps me to calm down a bit.

This author is very good at understanding the illnesses she writes about. She has done more for my child than any of the Drs. She has seen in 2 years. Her books are not only helpful but easy to understand, easy to read and to the point. If you have anxiety or panic disorder they are worth buying.

5.0 out of 5 stars IT DOES GET BETTER
Reviewed in Canada on December 20, 2013
After having serious panic attacks and developing phobias and OCD behaviours since 2007 life seemed to be stuck in the past and it seemed to hurtful to continue even living.
I never thought that stopping medication after 6 years could be so difficult really, so I stopped and everything seemed OK, but 2 months later PUM!!! the big shock I had the biggest relapse ever! couldn't sleep, couldn't eat, couldn't drive, work, or anything, I was just NOT self sufficient and yes I was completely in a downward spiral towards the most hurtful place a human being could ever experience.
I end up in the hospital for the 5th time in my life 'cause this anxiety was something I just couldn't cope. I was admitted in psychiatric help and I just remember screaming "Please put me back on meds or do just something to remove this nightmare I am living in!!!". The doctor didn't seemed to impress with my desperation and she just told me: "I can't medicate you, this is a battle you need to overcome just using your mind and no medication is necessarily, but wait, she said: I have a plan for you, go back home and read this book starting tomorrow and come back in a week"
It's been 3 months since that happened and even though I am not completely fine, I could say I feel 80% better, I haven't been so disciplined applying the techniques either because I feel that I can cope with the way I am feeling now. It is really sad but you have the tendency of feeling just bad and you just get used to.
Other thing that has really helped me has been mindfulness meditation, and I think that this kind of meditation is exactly what Dr. Weekes meant when she said on the chapter that talks about Masterly Inactivity it is exactly what mindfulness meditation is about. This meditation has been shown by scientific proofs that not only change the way you perceive the world it actually does change your brain wires or whatever physically.
Conclusion. As the Dr. Weekes said: The first step for your recovery is the understanding of your illness, and this part is given by the book the second half is definitely the practice. I will update my review once I feel 100% cured, because I know I will be there soon.
Dr. Weekes truly truly truly saved my life. I know everybody wrote the same but I don't feel any way different than this. God bless this lovely woman.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Stuff!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 7, 2012
Mine wasn't a hard cover, whatever it said. I have sent several of these to friends and the prices were really low for such a wonderful book. I also have her double CD. I have experienced lots of problems for 40 years and this book was suggested in the past. Why didn't I read it then, you might ask? Fear, arrogance, lack of education, but mostly because of the title. I come from an era when someone who 'suffered' or 'had' nerves was a strange rather weak creature who jumped when the wind blew, and was a person we all had to pity and cater to. More fool me, for now that I have more understanding of the title (the general public still does not though) I can not only read the book knowing that it applies to me and to many others who did not consider they 'suffered' from 'nerves' and know that at least now I can benefit and really enjoy her straighforward and supportive words. She never criticises or tells you you are mad, because of course we are not, nor does she suggest that you can't change things starting 'now'. This book is as relevant today as it was when she wrote it. In addition if you use the CD's to back up your reading or just use them alone you will soon begin to feel that things can change and all of it is within your power. In the CD's she walks along with you when you consider you cannot leave the house and she stands holding your hand when you are convinced you are going to have a panic attack or go mad. She masterfully demands that you 'let it pass' 'let it pass' and you begin to trust - first her, then yourself and then the process. Get it, read it, save for the CD if you can't initially afford the £13 odd. Throw away all the other CD's, books, websites and huge amount of self-help you have on your bookshelf or take them to MIND or sell them on Ebay and get on with your life with the help of Claire Weekes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to read and understand, comforting in times of high anxiety.

this book is easy to understand and demystifies anxiety for the layman. much better for me personally than trawling through CBT workbooks and diaries, I feel this book was ahead of its time, suggesting that the sufferer practice what is now called mindfulness and acceptance - the neurological process and physical effects of anxiety remain the same so if you ignore the views on medication and culture which are of their time, the rest of the book is a great help indeed, rather like being talked to by a wise, comforting mentor is who understands what the condition is like for you. Recommended. (I am a counsellor). I read this before the previous book and liked it the most but they are both excellent. I now understand how attempting to avoid or control the unpleasant, frightening sensations are not the road to a 'cure'. Having studied the (much later) Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) I find that many of those principles are incorporated in this self-help approach.

I have spent years reading about anxiety and using different practices to come to terms with anxiety symptoms. Only now I have come across Dr Weeks through Youtube and then bought her book which I find very special.
Dr Claire Weeks gives me real hope. She truly believes in curing anxiety for good if one is willing to follow her advice and stick with it even if it is going to take time. She explains how set backs are part of the healing process and this is important for anxiety sufferers to know. I am following her advice about 'facing' ' accepting ' 'relaxing the body' and feel it is working already. She has a compassionate style that really works. Why aren't her books better known!!!
