I figured I'd check back on Buscaglia after almost 40 years

I figured I'd check back on Buscaglia after almost 40 years
"There are no 'others' to blame -- each of us is the other. If we look carefully at behavior, we usually discover that the emotional impotence, apathy, and the lack of understanding and resistance to change we see in others is really our own. We are they."This book has held up rather well. It is, in part, a popularization of Abraham Maslow's (and others) views on self-actualization. Buscaglia admits it's neither a deep nor scholarly book, but rather a simplified presentation of a more complex subject. Those who find value in Personhood: The Art of Being Fully Human may want to follow it up by dipping into the writings of Maslow, Carl Rogers, Rollo May and others.

This book is amazingly full of insights, understanding and wisdom. It gives great knowledge on great thinkers around the world and stages of development and serves as a beckoning call for all of us to find the joyful beauty of living as the person we were designed to be full of love.

My mother turned me on to Leo. She thought that, since I'm a therapist, I would appreciate his human-first perspective. I absolutely loved this book. I enjoy Leo's anecdotes and his compassion. I would highly recommend this book and his lectures on youtube to anyone interested.

I'm in love with this book it is beautifully written and has a way of explaining things brilliantly. Not exactly accurate when it comes to the psychological theories/principles/evidence, but let's not forget this book came out a while ago so it is outdated in the psychology it includes. Having said that, the author does not claim to be accurate in the psychological conclusions made and he makes it clear that it is his own thoughts and opinions he expresses backed with some psychological evidence
