About the Author

R.C. Hibbeler graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana with a BS in Civil Engineering (majoring in Structures) and an MS in Nuclear Engineering. He obtained his PhD in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from Northwestern University. Professor Hibbeler’s professional experience includes postdoctoral work in reactor safety and analysis at Argonne National Laboratory, and structural and stress analysis work at Chicago Bridge and Iron, as well as at Sargent and Lundy in Chicago. He has practiced engineering in Ohio, New York, and Louisiana.

Professor Hibbeler currently teaches both civil and mechanical engineering courses at the University of Louisiana― Lafayette. In the past, he has taught at the University of Illinois at Urbana, Youngstown State University, Illinois Institute of Technology, and Union College.

Hibbeler goes into unsurpassed detail in the topics included in such a way that this book is a great reference for later on in a mechanical engineering academic career.

The homework uses different scenarios to help with the understanding of the material so that a student can succeed in their class.

I would recommend this to any student where Statics and dynamics are required in their course plan.

Currently using this textbook for my Dynamics class at university and used a book from the same author for Statics. This is a very good textbook for this class as the explanations include step-by-step on how to do the problems, a lot of worked out solutions in the explanations, pre-liminary problems that help you do the regular problems, and full worked out solutions to the preliminary problems. This is not an easy class by any stretch, so its good that the material is simplified in a way that a student can understand. Reason why I bump it down 1 star? Textbook was slightly worn out when received as well as the worked out solutions skipping steps.

I know this was used but this cannot be classified as in "good" condition. The book is practically falling out of its binding and all the corners show damage. The one reason I haven't rated it lower was because it arrived on time and the inside itself is mostly undamaged.
