Bought both books and was anticipating getting started on the journey. I bought both books NEW and as you can see one is wrapped in plastic and the other looks worn. Waited long enough to get them so I don't even want to be bothered with the return or replace process. It's just upsetting for how much the book cost.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I’m so grateful that my friend recommended this to me. This is a beautiful, simple, yet thorough explanation of what happens to us during trauma and why we never seem to be the same afterwards. Having gone through trauma myself, I found many of these words resonating deeply with me. The good news is there are ways to heal us and this book explains how.

I especially loved the accounts of her soul retrieval journeys and experiences with her power animal, other worlds, and her client's power animals. This led me to research my own power animal (which is different than spirit animals), to see if I am able to connect with mine. I’ve always found solace in nature, water, and animals, and this explains why my connection to the earth goes much deeper than simply feeling at peace.

I personally am on the journey now to reclaim the parts of my soul that I’ve lost throughout the abuses and trauma of my childhood, and Ive found it to be a very powerful experience. I hope this book gives others the courage to begin their own journey towards looking in words at their soul, start reclaiming their soul loss and live life with more vibrant, vitality, and love than ever before.

This book was recommended to me before I went to a Shamanic workshop on soul retrieval and I have found it to be very useful. Of all the so called new age concepts (shamanism is actually on of the oldest healing modalities there is)shamanism is the one that I have found the most valuable. It is about empowering oneself and understanding emotion and thought processes that we often take for granted. The attitude for so many illness and troubles is to take a pill or buy some new gadget that will only cover up the difficulty. Shamanism is comes from a time when medicating oneself into oblivion was not an option.
This book does a really good job of explaining what soul retrieval is and how it works along with several really good example of how it has effected peoples lives. This book is useful for someone who is familiar with the concept as well as someone who has just heard about it. Shamanic Soul Retrieval is a concept that has been helping people for thousands of years and is still just as useful today.

This is a beautifully, sensitively written book. I found it to be a real page-turner because it just resonated as true to me, and something badly needed in today's world when so many feel empty, lost, unfulfilled, as though something was missing. Sandra Ingerman makes the shamanic practice of soul retrieval accessible to the modern reader. Her simple explanation of why psychological "talk" therapy may not be enough to resolve a fragmented sense of self makes so much sense: you, or your therapist, can't work with someone who's not fully "at home." The two can work hand in hand, as a shaman retrieves the lost soul parts that restore the person to wholeness and enable further healing and integration to take place. In my own experiences of psychotherapy, it felt like I was spinning my wheels because something was missing; the "me" I had to work with felt incomplete. This book explains, in straightforward but gentle language, why that is and what to do about it.
